Malissa Wilson has served as Litigation Counsel for GuideOne since 2016, and her responsibilities include handling the company's Texas litigation. She is a proven litigator having tried several jury trials to defense verdicts and successfully argued on the appellate court level. She has briefed matters in state and federal courts with a number of favorable published opinions to her credit.

Before joining the GuideOne team, Malissa worked at a nationally-recognized defense firm routinely handling a variety of tort, insurance and transportation matters. She also has experience as a public sector attorney defending against allegations of constitutional rights violations and employment discrimination. Malissa's legal work has garnered her a Preeminent Client Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbard.

Malissa is a magna cum laude graduate from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. She received a Master of Science in Journalism from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism in New York City, New York. Malissa worked as a reporter before graduating cum laude from the University of Mississippi Law School where she achieved the Outstanding Student Award for Advanced Legal Research and the moot court competition finalist award. Also, in law school, Malissa served as an editor of the National Security Law Journal. She is licensed to practice law in state and federal courts in Texas.

Malissa has maintained a strong presence in the community as an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a public service sorority. She has enjoyed volunteering her time and services for many organizations, including Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, and Girl Scouts of America. Still, Malissa's most enjoyable activity is spending quality time with her family.
