Matt received his undergraduate degree with distinction from the University of Michigan in 2002 with a major in political science. He graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2005, where he received a Chicago Kent Merit Scholarship. During law school, Matt worked for one of the most prominent plaintiff's personal injury law firms in Chicago. After law school, he began working for a plaintiff's personal injury law firm where he successfully tried several cases. Matt then worked for an insurance defense litigation firm where he also tried cases to verdict and argued a case before the Illinois Appellate Court. In addition, Matt has experience representing clients in motor vehicle accident cases, premises liability matters, nursing home negligence cases, and other matters.

Matt is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel, the State Bar of Michigan and the Defense Research Institute. He is licensed to practice in all state courts in Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the State of Michigan.

Matt and his wife, Bari, are the proud parents of a son, Madden, and a daughter, Hadley.
